Students Together for Service (STS) is an educational, non-profit, interprofessional, and interdisciplinary student organization devoted to the promotion of a culture of community service among individuals at UTMB that (1) aims to initiate service events and volunteer opportunities (both on and off campus) targeting the needs of underprivileged/underserved individuals; (2) to act as a “network hub” that promotes service events hosted by partner organizations of STS, (3) to gather information about the local needs and to guide student service organization projects that would meet those needs; and (4) to provide educational seminars and service-based learning opportunities for students and faculty to increase awareness about the importance of community service as an inherent feature of health care professions.
As a UTMB student, how can I get involved with STS?
- Come to monthly board meetings – We are entirely student-driven so our meetings are open to all who are interested in the behind-the-scenes planning and coordination of our various projects. Check out the Calendar to see when our next one is.
- Join the STS Board – Interested in being more actively involved with STS? Let us know, and we’ll add you to our list.
